With the European Green Deal, the EU aims to cut emissions by at least 55% by 2030. The aeronautical sector therefore must adapt and innovate to contribute to this objective. A variety of innovation projects and funding opportunities were already intiated within the EU. The ECARE project was launched to identify technology topics, funding complementarities and synergies between regional, national and European funding programs. Thus, ECARE should help to achieve the ambitious targets of the European aviation industry while maximising public funding impact and efficiency.
The tree EACP members and major European aeronautical clusters Aerospace Valley, Hamburg Aviation, Campania Aerospace District started to work together on ECARE on January 1st 2023, together with the European Aeronautics Science Network (EASN). Other European aeronautical clusters and their funding bodies will be involved as well through a mechanism called ECARE Stakeholders Group (ESG). To create synergy mechanisms for European funders, methodologies will be developed based on the data from four pilot regions: Occitanie (France), Nouvelle-Aquitaine (France), Hamburg (Germany) and Campania (Italy). These synergy mechanisms aim to be applicable to other EU aeronautical regions as well.
ECARE concluded at the end of 2024. For more information you can consult the ECARE Digital Platform.
